Renato Moicano To Step In For Fiziev, UFC 272 Bout Remains 5 Rounds
The last two weeks have shown how deep lightweight is and how most of the fighters in the division fight any time, any place. Last week, Bobby Green stepped in on 10 days notice and lost to Islam Makhachev in the first round via TKO, this week Rafael Fiziev was forced to withdraw from his scheduled UFC 272 bout with Rafael Dos Anjos. It looked for a brief time that Islam would step in, with RDA agreeing to fight Islam. However, it appears Renato Moicano has accepted the bout with the former 155 pound champion.
Per Ariel Helwani, the bout will be at a 160 pound catch weight, with contracts yet to be signed. Moicano was out last time at UFC 271, where he scored a rear naked choke submission victory over Alexander Hernandez and a win over RDA would surely warrant a top 5 opponent if he can get the victory during the 5 round co-main event this weekend.
