Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is well known for his ability to submit his opponents with relative ease, currently holding the record for the most submission victories in the UFC with 15 wins via submission. However, there is many grapplers in the UFC who would one day like to take that crown from Oliveira, and one fighter who may be able to one day break that record is Mackenzie Dern, who told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that she ‘wants to catch Oliveira up’.
Dern is considered to be one of the best women grapplers in the world with a staggering BJJ record of 75-25-1. Since making the jump to the UFC and Mixed Martial Arts, Dern is 6-2 with four of those wins by submission so she has a long way to climb before she reaches Oliveira’s record and she looks to start it by being the first to submit Tecia Torres this Saturday at UFC 273.
