Despite rumors abound about Vice TV’s hit show “Dark Side of the Ring” being canceled after three seasons that were a roaring ratings success, VICE TV released a statement on Monday clarifying the show’s future.
“We’ve heard some rumors flying around about Season 4 of Dark Side of the Ring. We are as committed as ever to both the series and the broader Dark Side franchise. Evan [Husney] and Jason [Eisener] are hard at work making more content that we know our fans of the series will love. Stay tuned.”

This all started a few days prior when Dark Side of the Ring and its two spinoff series’ (Dark Side of Football and Dark Side of the ’90s) weren’t mentioned in a press release where Vice Media Group unveiled its 2022-2023 programming slate last week.
Dark Side of the Ring has been VICE TV’s highest rated show as it examines the dark “underbelly” and the stories away from the spotlight after the cameras are not rolling anymore, focusing on some of the saddest, most tragic, and most horrific moments, stories and people in the pro wrestling business. The cancelation rumors were fueled even more recently over the airing this past year of the “Plane Ride from Hell” episode that recounted the WWE’s planed ride back to the states from the UK in 2002.
Now while it appears VICE TV is still backing the show, the producers of Dark Side of the Ring now are involved in another wrestling project with legendary professional wrestler The Rock and his 7 Bucks Production company. Dave Meltzer recently spoke on the subject in a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer:
“Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks [Productions] and Evan Husney and Jason Eisener of Dark Side of the Ring are going to be producing a television series for VICE. The series will cover the territorial days of pro wrestling. The idea would be shows on different major territories each week as well as other topics, such as a show on women’s wrestling in the territorial days. Jim Ross noted his involvement in the show in an episode on Mid-South Wrestling. It was described to me that the show will be similar to WWE’s Table for 3, where there will be a table of guests reminiscing about their time in territories. The Mid South Wrestling episode, for example, will have Ross, Jake Roberts, Ted DiBiase, and Michael Hayes as part of it. A key to this is with Johnson involved, there will be representation from WWE with Hayes here. Previously, the only time WWE had an involvement with a VICE series was Jerry McDevitt, who made the decision on his own and wasn’t bound by Vince McMahon, appearing in the steroid trials Dark Side piece.“
