UFC’s Tony Kelley Makes Racist Remarks During Fight: “They’re Dirty F—king Brazilians”; Claims He Was Referring To A Dirty Eye Poke
During the UFC’s fight night event on May 14th 2022, Andrea Lee who fought Brazilian Viviane Araujo, was cornered by UFC fighter Tony Kelley.
During a talk in between rounds, Tony Kelley was heard saying racist remarks to his fighter, which you can read below:
“That’s what they do. They’re dirty f–king Brazilians. They’re going to cheat like that.”
Tony Kelley will face Adrian Yanez on June 18th, 2022 UFC Fight Night Austin, Texas. As seen above, Yanez had this to say in a tweet thread about his upcoming opponents comments.
Brazilian UFC Fighter Gilbert Burns also had this to say:
So far UFC has made no official comment on the statement. However, Kelley responded to criticism of his comment during this past weekend’s UFC Fight Night. According to Kelley, it was an alleged eye poke that he claims that he was referring to as being “dirty,” seemingly blaming “cancel culture.”
“Cancel Culture is real. What I said was real and in the heat of battle, and in no way had any type of racist connotations meant…but if that’s the way you take it, idgaf. So many people quick to say racist..that shits getting so old. My reference was to a dirty eye poke.”
