The breakout star tournament in NXT has seen success since its inception a couple of years ago. It gives fresh faces on the developmental brand a chance to showcase their skills and has been successful in creating fresh stars for the brand, particularly during a transition period. This year, there is both a women’s and a men’s tournament.
WWE announced during last night’s broadcast of NXT 2.0 that the tournament finals will take place next week on NXT TV. The winner of Tiffany versus Roxanne will earn a guaranteed shot at the NXT Women’s Championship.
Of course, WWE can’t be pleased that the favourite to win the tournament, Nikkita Lyon’s suffered an ACL injury and was forced to withdraw the tournament.
