It appears that there may be significantly more to Stephanie McMahon’s hiatus from the WWE. While Stephanie has cited spending time with her family, there has been reports that WWE higher ups do not have faith in McMahon as an executive within the company. One higher up who holds a lot of weight in the WWE is Vince McMahon, the owner and chairman of the WWE and Stephanie’s father.
According to Business Insider’s Claire Atkinson, Stephanie McMahon’s leave of absence was initiated by her father Vince McMahon.
”It was executed by her father, Vince McMahon, the organization’s 76-year-old CEO.”

Time will tell how long Stephanie’s hiatus will be and if Vince will be the deciding factor in returning to the company. For now however, Stephanie’s hiatus will continue.
