Okada vs Hangman Not Listed Internally For Forbidden Door

It seems we may not get a one on one match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

Last night on AEW Dynamite, Hangman Adam Page returned to the ring after losing the AEW World Title to CM Punk at Double Or Nothing. He would defeat David Finlay and after the match would pick up a microphone and call an interesting opponent out: The IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kazuchika Okada.

Following this call out, Adam Cole got on the mic and trashed Hangman for calling out the NJPW star, saying he should be the one to challenge for that championship at Forbidden Door.

Now, it appears that the plan may be heading towards a triple threat match for the championship at the PPV later this month. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio spoke about the segment and stated that Hangman vs Okada is not listed internally as a one on one match:

“My gut says Adam Cole vs Page vs Okada in a 3 way” “I was absolutely positively told it was not Okada vs Hangman Page in a singles match on the pay per view”

Of course, time will tell if this will turn out to be a triple threat match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
