On tonight’s UFC 275 Pay-per-view it was announced that the welterweight champion is back! Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards for the UFC welterweight championship is set for UFC 278 on Saturday, August 20, 2022 live from Salt Lake City.
Kamaru Usman has been out of action since November 6, 2021 after defeating Colby Covington. Usman went on to undergo surgery for a injured hand, but finally, the champion is back in action. His opponent, Leon Edwards, has been patiently waiting since June of last year for his owed shot at the welterweight title, and now he’s got it. This will be the second time these two have met in the octagon, the first being December 19, 2015 where Kamaru Usman was victorious after a decision. Now, nearly seven years later, Leon Edwards gets a chance at redemption.
