Karolina Kowalkiewicz Posts Touching Message for Joanna Jedrzejczyk Following UFC 275 Retirement
On Saturday night we witnessed the retirement of Joanna Jedrzejczyk, the former Strawweight queen has received lots of love, support and messages, including one from a former foe turned friend.
In the photo below, former title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz posted on Instagram a touching message for Jedrzejczyk where she spoke about how much of an inspiration she is, called her a wonderful person and how the former champ helped Kowalkiewicz when she needed it the most.
The two first fought at UFC 205 where Jedrzejczyk retained the Strawweight Championship by unanimous decision. The two Polish women used to be bitter rivals, but after Jedrzejczyk helped Kowalkiewicz train at American Top Team in Florida, the two have buried the hatchet and become friends.
Kowalkiewicz recently took a year off, trained at ATT and snapped a 5-fight losing streak by submitting Felice Herrig at UFC Vegas 56 on the 4th of June. The former title challenger planned to retire if she wasn’t victorious, but it was Herrig who decided to hang up the gloves following the submission loss to Kowalkiewicz,
