Alexander Volkanovski To Undergo Surgery Following UFC 276 Fight

Alexander Volkanovski walked out of UFC 276 ‘And Still’. But, he didn’t walk out unscathed.

Alexander Volkanovski successfully defended his UFC Featherweight Championship against Max Holloway in their highly anticipated trilogy fight. Immediately following the fight, Alexander was claiming he broke his hand in the first or second round. He reiterated that at the post-fight press conference where he had his hand wrapped up. Well, now, we have an update. Volkanovski revealed in a tweet Thursday that he broke his thumb and would undergo surgery the same day. He posted a X-Ray of the injury and thanked his fans in the process.

Looks like the Featherweight champion will be out at least 12 weeks. Volkanovski mentioned moving up to try to become double champion by fighting for the 155 pound title. Yet, 12 weeks is a long time and gives a possibility for a new rising contender in the featherweight scene. We’ll have to wait and see if Alexander comes back to defend his featherweight title, or still has the 155 title on his mind. We wish the best in recovery for Alexander Volkanovski.
