  • Jack Perry: People Thought I Tried To Be Raven With The Scapegoat, I Was Trying To Be Jesus

Jack Perry: People Thought I Tried To Be Raven With The Scapegoat, I Was Trying To Be Jesus

Jack Perry opened up about the idea that he was presented with when he became the Scapegoat of AEW.

At AEW’s big All In show in 2023, Jack Perry competed in the pre-show where he defeated Darby Allin in a Coffin Match to retain the AEW TNT Championship.

However, a spot during the match angered CM Punk backstage and eventually led to Punk attacking Perry backstage, leading to him being fired from AEW days later.

Because of how things went, Perry was immediately labeled as the bad guy, and after a text exchange with Chris Jericho, who said he was the Scapegoat of the situation, it sparked a big idea for Perry when he was already in the middle of a growing heel run.

“During the time, it was not nice. It was uncomfortable and scary. That’s why I think I ended up growing a lot because it forced me out of my (comfort zone). I was out for a long time. At that time, it was not something I ever anticipated happening, obviously. I always just imagined what my road would look like. ‘Work hard, do this.’ I never saw something like this. Now, I’m kind of grateful for it because a huge portion of the wrestling world turned on me, and I had always been wanting to make everybody like me. It was kind of holding me back as well because it’s not possible for everyone to like you. I was kind of playing it safe in a lot of ways. I realized, at a certain point, ‘Okay, now it’s done.’ There are people now where, they’re never going to like me. When I came to terms with that and realized that it kind of frees me because I don’t have to worry about trying to get this guy to like me, it’s like the shackles were off. I just dove into the deep end at that point. It’s not going to get worse,” he said.

He continued, “I was at the gym, I remember texting you [Jericho], and you asked how it was going. ‘Really, not good,’ and you said, ‘Yeah, you’re the scapegoat.’ As soon as I saw the word, I was like, ‘That’s interesting.’ I didn’t actually know what it was or where it came from. I looked it up, and it’s an ancient religious thing where once a year, people used to sacrifice a goat to the devil, ‘please forgive us for our sins. Here is a goat.’ I thought it was cool because I was thinking I was the goat, and now I’m sacrificed to pay for the sins of other people. I put the word and imagery and made it this thing. It says the main archetype of the goat is Jesus, and I thought it was cool. People thought I was trying to be Raven. I was trying to be Jesus. I think a lot of that is what Raven was doing as well. ‘Let me be Jesus in this form of wrestling with this dark thing around.’ I really got into this thing I was creating. This allowed me to be me, but also get into this thematic stuff that was going on that felt like it could relate to my real life. I got to go to Japan and they don’t say anything, you come back from the match and there is a camera rolling. I watched Gabe Kidd, who is one of my favorite promo guys, he’d come back and be going insane. ‘You can do that?’ It allowed me to come back and not be so in my head about what I was going to say. I just said what I felt. That started the whole thing of ‘What do I want to do?’” – Perry said on Talk is Jericho.

When he did return, Perry aligned himself in the new Elite with Kazuchika Okada and the Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson.)

Perry recently lost the AEW National Championship to Mark Davis on the May 9 edition of AEW Collision.

  • Ronda Rousey: Hunter Campbell Is A Chauvinist Prick

Ronda Rousey: Hunter Campbell Is A Chauvinist Prick

Ronda Rousey did not keep her words light when she spoke about the Chief Business Officer of the UFC.

Most Valuable Promotions is set to bring the biggest fight in Women’s MMA history on May 16 between Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano. Carano retired in 2009 after suffering her first loss in the sport to Cris Cyborg and would transition to the world of acting in entertainment.

However, Rousey would go on to dominate the sport for the next couple of years, bringing MMA to the UFC, and retaining the Women’s Bantamweight Championship consecutive times before losing her first MMA fight to Holly Holm, then Amanda Nunes a year later in her attempt at reclaiming the throne.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani, Rousey opened up about how the UFC and her idea for this fight did not work out and who she blames for it not happening on that side of the world of MMA.

“No, it wasn’t personal. With Hunter it was personal because he was a fucking asshole about it,” she said. “He was just being such a chauvinist prick and so dismissive. Just trying to get me and Gina to value ourselves less from the get go and acting like this isn’t the greatest thing that has fallen into his lap since he’s been there. He’s like, ‘Oh, you guys are so much older. I don’t know how it’s going to do.’ Who the fuck is this guy? I didn’t even know who he was. I was told, ‘He’s the lawyer that is going to come and show you your pay-per-view numbers.’ Fine, I’m going to knock this out of the park. I love having my pay be performance-based. Fuck you, I’ll show you. Dana mentioned that he wanted me and Gina to fight for the 145 title because it was vacant and it was a way to retire the belt. Hunter is like, ‘Yeah, then we can get rid of that division.’ The way he spoke of it and how dismissive he was and the disdain he had for the fighters at that weight, motherfucker, my husband is 6’7”, my girls are not going to be 135. This is what you think about women who are heavier than 135 pounds, that they can’t offer you anything and are worthless? It just really rubbed me the wrong way. This fucking guy is going to be shepherding the company that I helped build? It rubbed me the wrong way. I was talking to my mom about it. He was like, ‘I met your mom, she is so great. Tell her I said hi.’ After the meeting, I’m like, ‘Mom, do you know who Hunter Campbell is?’ ‘Yeah, he’s a fucking asshole. Screw that guy.’ ‘Why don’t you like him?’ ‘He’d sell tickets to Christians being fed to lions.’”

Rousey vs. Carano is set to headline the first-ever MMA event held by Most Valuable Promotions at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

  • Nigel McGuinness: I Would Go Quietly Into The Night If I Can’t Defeat Lee Moriarty For ROH Pure Championship

Nigel McGuinness: I Would Go Quietly Into The Night If I Can’t Defeat Lee Moriarty For ROH Pure Championship

Nigel McGuinness wants to raise the stakes as high as possible when it comes to his potentially last matches in the world of professional wrestling.

It was last December in 2025 where Lee Moriarty had to prepare for the legendary Nigel McGuinness in an Iron Man, which would be won with Moriarty picking up one of the biggest wins of his career to continue his dominant reign as champion in a big rematch.

Coming up on May 15, McGuinness has the opportunity to battle Josh Woods at ROH Supercard Of Honor, another former opponent of Moriarty and the chance to fight the champion is on the other side of a huge win, one that McGuiness spoke with Justin Dhillon of The Wrestling Classic about and how it could lead to a Title vs. Career against Moriarty in a last chance situation.

“He (Josh Woods) was going on a run. He’s put a lot of big names down. He’s faced Lee Moriarty a couple of times, and I just felt like I was probably the missing piece to his puzzle. If he’s gonna challenge Lee for that Pure Title again, then he probably needs to beat me to be able to do it because if he can’t beat me, I don’t think he’s got a chance against Lee for that matter and then if he can’t beat Lee, as I said in the interview, I would (be) more than willing to take one more, one last shot at Lee for the Pure Title and if I don’t win it this time, I will go quietly into the night.”

McGuiness last match he competed in was last December on an episode of ROH on HonorClub when he defeated Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders.

  • Trick Williams: Yachty Loves The Business, It Gets Me Fired Up

Trick Williams: Yachty Loves The Business, It Gets Me Fired Up

Trick Williams has been having a blast in the last couple of weeks since getting into the United States Championship picture.

Originally, it felt that WrestleMania would be witnessing a United States Championship match between Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams. Former friends turned bitter rivals in NXT, and now on SmackDown with one of the biggest opportunities of the year with gold on the line. However, that didn’t go to plan when Sami Zayn defeated Hayes to become the new US Champion.

During an appearance on the Battle on the Battleground podcast, Williams spoke about his partnership with rapper Lil Yachty, and how it eventually led to them making a diss track on Zayn, who Trick had to dethrone at the grandest stage of them all.

“It was dope. Working with yachty, he loves the business. Any time somebody loves the business like that, it gets me fired up. We sit and brainstorm for hours on how we’re going to do this and that. No ego involved. We’re going to put out the best work possible, and we’re going to put out diss tracks and different things. The gingerbread diss track, it was a throwaway line that became something much bigger than I ever anticipated being. Hopefully, I didn’t lose too much of my ginger audience. I have nothing against gingers. It was just to poke fun at Sami Zayn. I had to. He deserved it,” he said.

Williams defeated Zayn at WrestleMania and would go on to finish the feud between the two when he retained the United States Championship at WWE Backlash with a little help on the sidelines from his friend, Yachty.

  • Swerve Strickland: Kofi Is A Role Model To A Whole Generation of Kids

Swerve Strickland: Kofi Is A Role Model To A Whole Generation of Kids

Swerve Strickland knows a lot of wrestlers want to see the New Day make their arrival at All Elite Wrestling.

On May 2, the news broke that Kofi Kingston (Kofi) and Xavier Woods (Austin Creed) of the New Day would be requesting their release from the WWE following a situation where they were asked to take a pay cut by TKO on their current contracts but ultimately decided on leaving after over a decade with the company.

Former AEW Men’s World Champion Swerve Strickland was asked about the duo and spoke about the impact they have made on the sport, plus how inspirational they are to a whole generation of kids who aspire to become professional wrestlers in the future.

There’s a lot of wrestlers that want to see them end up in AEW. I talked to them the same day. Kofi took another day to get back to me, but they’re in high spirits, they’re motivated, they’re happy. I feel like they have the ball in their court which is what they always wanted. They have the ball in their court and they honestly feel like they can control their own narrative, and Xavier is really good at that. Kofi is walking [as a] free agent for the first time in his whole career. He was a Hall of Famer like five, six years ago. He was a Hall of Famer then, and to add the World Title match on top of that. He’s the only black wrestler to ever win the World Title at Mania. He’s the only one. That’s something you can’t take away from him. Never had any negative press on him, never had any issues, suspensions, fines, never any of this. So he’s walking out a role model to a whole generation of kids.” – Swerve Strickland said on Bootleg Kev.

Strickland has not been on AEW TV in quite some time, he recently said on social media that it was because the company is afraid of what he will do to Bandido, the current ROH Men’s World Champion.

  • Jack Cartwheel On Elbow Injury: This Is Just A Hitch In The Road

Jack Cartwheel On Elbow Injury: This Is Just A Hitch In The Road

Jack Cartwheel recently spoke about the elbow injury he suffered which has kept him out of action for the foreseeable future.

In a match at GCW The Wrld On Lucha against Galeno Del Mal, Cartwheel went to hit a springboard phoenix splash and suffered an injury to his elbow when he landed horribly wrong on it. Cartwheel is expected to take some time off from the sport and looks to come back stronger than before.

While speaking with The Wrestling Pedigree podcast, Cartwheel opened up about the injury and his comeback.

“The thing that’s so interesting about what happened is if you watch it, you watch it in slow-mo, my right foot slips a little bit on the rope, and I come down at a little bit of an angle, which isn’t how you’re supposed to do it, but all things considered, it didn’t seem like that bad of a landing as well until, yeah, it must have been. There just was too much force, too much pressure going down into that elbow that all of this kinetic energy was supposed to go down right onto Galeno Del Mal. It all came down on my elbow instead, and, yeah, it was a very scary moment. I never thought I would like look down at my elbow and kind of see the the imprints of a different part of my bone that was there. I think that was kind of the most bone chilling part is looking down and not seeing that point that you’re usually used to that this point wasn’t there that this point was over this way. So I was seeing the end of this arm over here. It was or this bone. Bone chilling stuff, but what I have to do as Jack Cartwheel is be ready to be upside down for a little bit that I might be upside down, but I’m going to start on my feet and I’m going to end on my feet.  This might be just a hitch in the road and these wheels are still rolling.”

  • Asuka Set To Be On An Extended Absence From WWE

Asuka Set To Be On An Extended Absence From WWE

Asuka was written off WWE TV on the May 11 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw on Netflix.

Following her feud blowoff with Iyo Sky at Backlash, Asuka had been teasing taking time away from the WWE or even departing from the company after over a decade with the company.

Sky would go on to win the match, and the two would hug it out for the first time in months to bury the hatchet and get back to being friends.

It was reported by PWInsider Elite that WWE star Asuka was returning to Japan for an extended period to handle a family matter that we will not disclose.

On the Raw Post Show for Fightful, Sean Ross Sapp spoke about the reports and had this to say.

“I found out definitively what’s going on, and I don’t want to miscredit the person who said it but the person who said there’s personal stuff going on, that’s accurate. I don’t want to elaborate on what that is but I was straight up told tonight she was not a part of any cuts. She wasn’t asked to take a pay cut as best I know. She signed a new deal in 2024. It was a multi-year deal.

“Obviously, WWE did not want to have Asuka be gone for a while, so to speak. Here’s what I heard, Asuka had approached WWE and said, ‘Stuff I’ve got to attend to.’ It’s back in Japan, she’s going to be spending some time there. I don’t know how much time that’s gonna be.

“Obviously, it’s not what WWE wanted to hear but it’s something that they felt was important to honour and all that. Asuka is beloved in that company. When people naturally were like, ‘Was she cut? Was she asked to take a pay cut?’ a number of people hit me up and they’re like, ‘Man, we can’t speak higher of the job that she does.’”

Asuka will remain with the WWE, but there is no word on when she will be returning to WWE in the foreseeable future.
