Fan favorite Fowler (2-0, 1 submission, competing out of San Jose, Calif.) plans to deliver his most emphatic performance yet for his second UFC BJJ title defense. Owner of one of the most diverse submission games in the light heavyweight division, Fowler has proven himself in performances over Pedro Machado, David Garmo and Christiano Troisi. He now looks to retain his spot at the top of the division by taking out Johnson.
Johnson (1-0, competing out of Paterson, N.J.) intends to make a statement in his sophomore UFC BJJ outing of 2026. Originally competing at heavyweight, he showed off his grappling ability in his debut win over Lucas Norat. Johnson now seeks to prove that he can compete with the best in the world at 205-pounds by upsetting Fowler and claiming UFC BJJ gold.
UFC veteran Burns (0-0, competing out of Boca Raton, Fla.) seeks to make a definitive splash in his UFC BJJ debut. A multiple-time grappling world champion before transitioning to MMA, ‘Dorinho’ has recorded wins over Leandro Lo, Kron Gracie and Rafael Lavato Jr. He now has his sights set on immediately inserting his name into the middleweight title conversation with another signature submission.
Monteiro (0-0, competing out of Kona, Hawaii) looks to earn the biggest victory on his career in his UFC BJJ debut. Widely regarded as an incredibly talented grappler, he earned his reputation in the lower belt divisions claiming IBJJF and UAEJJF world championships. Monteiro now plans to secure a breakout performance in the UFC BJJ Bowl by defeating Burns.
Additional matches on the card include:
    • A must-see heavyweight match pits Nick Rodriguez (0-0-1, competing out of Austin, Texas) against respected competitor Joao Nicolite (0-0, competing out of San Jose, Calif.)

  • Lash Legend Believes Kali Armstrong Has WWE Hall Of Fame Potential

Lash Legend Believes Kali Armstrong Has WWE Hall Of Fame Potential

    Real recognizes real, they say.

WWE Superstar Lash Legend had high praise for rising NXT talent Kali Armstrong during a recent appearance on Bodyslam.net’s Wrestleholics podcast, calling Armstrong a future Hall of Famer and one of the standout names in WWE’s evolving developmental system.

As WWE continues to spotlight new faces across NXT and EVOLVE, Lash spoke about the growing opportunities for emerging talent and pointed directly to Armstrong as someone poised to break through in a major way.

“I feel like it’s a new evolution of NXT, and I feel like the people that deserve more recognition are starting to get those opportunities. So it’s really cool to see Cali.”

Lash continued by emphasizing Armstrong’s upside and overall presence, making it clear she believes the young star has all the tools needed to succeed at the highest level.

“Yeah, I mean, everybody should know about NXT. That girl is something serious, and I believe that she can be a Hall of Famer one day. She is just that good. She’s so coachable, she loves it, she has a passion for it, and she looks great, so shout out to her.”

Armstrong has quickly become one of the more talked-about names among WWE’s developing talent pool, especially following her run with the EVOLVE Championship. According to Lash, the next step is now establishing herself as a force within NXT.

“She’s somebody that I’m like, ‘Yeah, go get that title.’ She came in with the EVOLVE Championship, so that was really cool, but I think it’s time for her to make her mark in NXT.”

  • WWE Sources Reportedly Believe Ludwig Kaiser ICE Story Was Planted

WWE Sources Reportedly Believe Ludwig Kaiser ICE Story Was Planted

WWE Superstar Ludwig Kaiser (real name Marcel Barthel) was arrested in Orlando, Florida on May 20, 2026, for misdemeanor battery following an April 23 altercation at his apartment complex. According to an arrest affidavit, Kaiser and a woman (WWE personality Andrea Bazarte) were “aggressively kissing” inside an elevator at the Paramount on Lake Eola Apartments.

The victim, identified as Richard Reap, exited on the 12th floor and told the couple to “please have some manners”. Reap told police that Kaiser followed him out and punched and pushed him to the ground, causing a scratch on his head.

Police secured surveillance footage matching the victim’s account, identified Kaiser, and issued a warrant. Kaiser learned of the warrant while working in Mexico, returned to Orlando, turned himself in, and was released on a $1,000 bond. Kaiser entered a plea of not guilty. Because his wrestling career requires international travel, his legal team successfully filed a motion allowing him to travel while the case is ongoing.

It was previously reported by Fightful Select, that WWE currently has no heat with Kaiser over the incident and is not expected to issue internal disciplinary action. He is scheduled to continue his high-profile “El Grande Americano” mask versus mask match against Chad Gable in AAA. However, there is now a new update from Fightful Select regarding the recent Ludwig Kaiser and Andrea Bazarte situation.

According to information obtained by Fightful Select, several WWE sources indicated they believe the story involving Kaiser defending Bazarte from ICE-related comments may have been intentionally planted from within the company.

Fightful noted that an unfamiliar phone number reportedly contacted multiple members of wrestling media directly with the story. Sources also pointed out that the information did not appear to originate from Ludwig Kaiser, Andrea Bazarte, or WWE’s official communications team.

The report states that the unusual nature of the outreach raised eyebrows internally, especially given how selectively the information was distributed.

At this point, there has been no official statement from WWE, Kaiser, or Bazarte regarding the situation.

We will continue to monitor the story here at Bodyslam.net, and provide additional updates as more information becomes available.

  • Jay Bilas Says He’d Be Open To Hosting A WWE Draft

Jay Bilas Says He’d Be Open To Hosting A WWE Draft

ESPN analyst and longtime NBA Draft expert Jay Bilas says he would be open to stepping into the world of WWE in a big way.

While speaking with Justin Barrasso‘s Extra Mustard, Bilas was asked about the possibility of hosting a future WWE Draft. The longtime college basketball analyst didn’t hesitate when discussing both his interest in professional wrestling and his appreciation for the evolution of the industry.

“I wouldn’t say no to that. I love wrestling. I grew up on it. I really enjoyed it when I was growing up, and my favorite was John Tolos. But the wrestling I watched feels primitive compared to what we see now. With all the pageantry, it’s become this incredible spectacle.”

Bilas naming John Tolos as one of his childhood favorites will resonate with longtime wrestling fans familiar with the legendary heel’s influence during wrestling’s territorial era. Known as “The Golden Greek,” Tolos became one of the most recognizable stars of his generation and helped shape the style and presentation of wrestling during the 1960s and 1970s, throughout a career that stretched through the early 1950s to the early 1980s.

The idea of Bilas hosting a WWE Draft would not feel entirely out of place given WWE’s continued crossover with mainstream sports media and entertainment personalities in recent years. WWE has regularly brought in analysts, athletes, musicians, and celebrities to contribute to major events, particularly around marquee broadcasts and premium live events.

Bilas has built a respected reputation over the years through his work covering college basketball and the NBA Draft for ESPN. His ability to command a live broadcast environment and present major selections could translate naturally into WWE’s annual Draft presentation.

WWE has also leaned heavily into creating a more sports-oriented presentation in recent years, especially around concepts like the Draft, rankings, and championship contention. Adding a recognizable sports television personality like Bilas into that environment would fit the company’s current direction.

Whether the opportunity ever materializes remains to be seen, but Bilas clearly sounds open to the possibility of making an appearance inside the WWE universe.

  • MVP Says Triple H Ignoring Him And Bobby Lashley Led To WWE Exit

MVP Says Triple H Ignoring Him And Bobby Lashley Led To WWE Exit

Former WWE Superstar MVP, who now is a prominent part of the AEW Roster, did not hold back while discussing the circumstances surrounding his departure from WWE.

MVP is claiming that repeated attempts to communicate with Paul Levesque ultimately pushed both himself and Bobby Lashley toward leaving the company. Speaking on Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze, MVP detailed growing frustrations behind the scenes, specifically pointing to what he described as a lack of communication from WWE management.

“I don’t like Triple H, I think he’s a coward and a liar. There were multiple times I tried to talk to Triple H, and he would always say, ‘I’ll get with you in a little bit.’”

MVP went on to explain that Lashley also struggled to get direct answers regarding his future in WWE despite multiple attempts to speak with WWE’s Chief Content Officer.

“Bobby couldn’t get Triple H on the phone. Triple H wouldn’t give Bobby any one on one time,” MVP continued. “Bobby wanted to talk to Triple H about, ‘Hey, what’s my direction? What am I doing here?’ But Triple H always had something come up.”

According to MVP, the lack of communication eventually led him to encourage Lashley and fellow former WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin to consider leaving WWE together and making the jump to AEW.

“So I told Bobby while we were sitting in catering, ‘Dog, I’m not going to re-sign. Don’t re-sign either. You, me, and Shelton should go to AEW. Let’s go.’”

MVP said he continued pushing the idea consistently until Lashley eventually agreed that their futures within WWE no longer appeared promising.

“I was in Bobby’s ear every week. ‘Bobby, let’s go, dog. Let’s get Shelton and head across the street.’ It finally got to the point where Bobby was like, ‘Yeah, you’re right. There’s no future here for us.’”

MVP also pushed back against speculation that WWE made the decision to move on from the group, stating clearly that the departures came down to their own choice not to remain with the company.

“So my contract ran out. Bobby’s contract ran out. We chose not to re-sign. Contrary to what some people might say, that was our decision.”

The comments add another layer to the ongoing discussion surrounding talent relations and communication within WWE under the current regime, while also shedding more light on how close-knit the bond remains between MVP, Lashley, and Benjamin following their time together as part of The Hurt Business.
