Trey Miguel will challenge Leon Slater for the TNA World Championship at Destination X.
Miguel secured the opportunity by winning a five-way ladder match on Thursday’s Bound for Glory fallout edition of Impact. The field also included Elijah, Jason Hotch, Moose and Ricky Sosa.
Nic Nemeth interfered during the closing moments after expressing frustration over being excluded from the match. The former champion attempted to retrieve the contract himself, but Miguel pulled him from the ladder, avoided a superkick and delivered the Lightning Spiral. Miguel then climbed the ladder and claimed the contract.
Slater captured his first TNA World Championship by defeating Nemeth at Bound for Glory. His defense against Miguel will take place Nov. 15 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Miguel has previously held the X-Division, International and Tag Team championships but has never won the TNA World title. The Destination X match will be his third singles meeting with Slater.
