Kevin Knight Responds to Criticism of His Open Challenge

AEW has announced that Kevin Knight will defend his TNT Championship in an open challenge on Dynamite, which will be live from Asheville, NC.

Of course, everyone’s least favorite IWC troll has to give his “hot take” in poorly veiled sarcasm.

JDfromNY wrote on twitter, “Hey guys. This is such an ingenious idea. I’ve never seen it before!! I’m so excited about this brand new concept that could shape the landscape of pro wrestling television for months and years to come!!”

It’s almost like he has never seen a TV based title defended before in a promotion in his life.

Luckily, the Jet had a classy response for him, which was simply, “I agree. We appreciate the love.”

In reality, it’s probably best not to respond to sarcastic comments like this but everyone knows that even though JD says he hates AEW (let’s be real he hates everything), he will still be watching.

Whoever steps up to this open challenge, it should be a banger. I’m all for more Kevin Knight on TV anyways.

    AEW Dynamite Results – May 6, 2026

On May 6th, 2026 AEW aired the 344rd episode of Dynamite live in North Charleston South Carolina inside North Charleston Coliseum & can watch it on TBS & HBO MAX (United States), TSN (Canada) & MyAEW (International).

-Kicking off this week’s Dynamite with Tony Schiavone is standing in the ring to kick off the show with a tribute to TBS founder Ted Turner following the news of his death earlier today.

-He expresses how much Turner loved professional wrestling and emphasizes what he did for the professional wrestling business then introduces Sting and he makes his way to the ring.

-Sting then expresses his fondness for Turner and thanks him for his contributions for the professional wrestling business before Schiavone points out that fans should pay attention to the Turner Techwood Mansion sideplates on the TNT & TBS Titles tonight.

    Non Title Match
Continental Champion Jon Moxley defeated Juice Robinson via Bulldog Choke (14:42)

-We then head over to a video of Will Ospreay training with Death Riders backstage where Wheeler Yuta uses Ospreay as a decline bench to do sit ups as Marina Shafir fires off kicks on Continental Champion Jon Moxley’s midsection.

-After they finish their respective activities Moxley says Ospreay is different from others in AEW and says that he’s got 1% to go on the mountain but it’ll be the hardest part of the journey yet and it’s the only good option Ospreay has left.

Champion vs. Champion Double Jeopardy Match
Trios Champion Orange Cassidy defeated AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood via Roll Up (12:09) (Since Cassidy won The Conglomeration gets a AEW World Tag Team Titles Match)

-Backstage Renee Paquette ask Chris Jericho how he was feeling & said he was pissed off then mentioned that he’s done talking It’s time to fight.

-Jericho took Paquette’s microphone and went to the ring with it.

-He said that he’s done with the 3 on 1 beatdowns and blindside attacks.

-He calls for Ricochet to come to the ring and talk to him.

-Ricochet came out but wasn’t by himself like Jericho asked. Ricochet said he thinks Jericho might have a humiliation kink because of how he wants to repeatedly get beaten up by The Demand.

-Ricochet didn’t see much in it for him to keep fighting Jericho… Until he got an idea: He wants to beat Jericho in his own match, a Stadium Stampede at Double Or Nothing. The only issue, Ricochet noted is that Jericho has no friends to form a team.

Jericho accepts the match then said I’ll find 4 partners because I’m sure somebody here likes me but if I can’t find 4 partners, I’ll take on all y’all by myself.

Jericho calls Ricochet bald then punches him then he sends Gates Of Agony out of the ring then drops Ricochet with a Judas Effect.

-Jericho teased hitting Ricochet with the Lionsault but was stopped by Toa Liona as he knocked him off the ropes with a forearm.

-The Hurt Syndicate hits the ring to make the save for Jericho and made The Demand retreat.

AEW Dynamite on Wednesday will also see a one hour AEW Collision following the show, making this Wednesday a three hour special on TBS & HBO Max. For the event, four big matches have been revealed, including an AEW World Championship Match that was at up last week.

As we know, Kevin Knight stepped up and challenged Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship and after Kevin successfully defeated MJF to retain his TNT Championship last week, Darby has granted Knight the opportunity for Wednesday.

Plus, after Juice Robinson defeated The Death Riders in tag action on Collision, he will get a shot at Jon Moxley in a championship eliminator match. But, that’s not the only championship stakes on the show.

Orange Cassidy and Dax Harwood will battle in a double Jeopardy match. If Cassidy wins, he will get a shot at the AEW Tag Team Championships. But, if Dax wins, he will get a shot at the AEW Trios Championships.

Plus, in tag team action, these four ladies will finally, hopefully, settle their differences as Mina Shirakawa and Harley Cameron take on the new team of Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida.

  • AEW Dynamite: TNT Championship Match Made Official For Next Week

AEW Dynamite: TNT Championship Match Made Official For Next Week

The AEW TNT Championship was almost on the line on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, but it’s been delayed until next week, thanks to MJF.

MJF kicked off tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite and was furious over the fact that he lost the AEW World Championship last week against Darby Allin. MJF said he was cheated out of a win, and wanted Darby to come out and hand him the title right now.

Instead came ‘The Jet’ Kevin Knight. Kevin is of course the new TNT Champion, and flaunted that fact to MJF. Knight also made it clear that he had MJF beat a few weeks ago until MJF cheated, so if anyone was scammed out of gold, it was him. But, Kevin Knight had no problem ripping MJF a new one in Rip City and putting his championship on the line tonight.

MJF gladly accepted and brought a referee out, ready to fight for the AEW TNT Championship. But, once the match was about to begin, MJF left, and said he’d see Kevin next week. It was then made official minutes later. Next week on AEW Dynamite; Kevin Knight versus MJF for the TNT Championship.

  • AEW Dynamite: Kevin Knight Retains TNT Championship

AEW Dynamite: Kevin Knight Retains TNT Championship

Kevin Knight became TNT Champion after winning the Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW Dynasty. Now, there’s no rest for the champion. It was announced immediately following the pay-per-view that Kevin Knight would defend his championship against Claudio Castagnoli.

Claudio was one of the Death Rider members who didn’t get the opportunity to compete in the Casino Gauntlet, while PAC, Wheeler YUTA & Daniel Garcia did. So, he gets his shot on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

The match started off with a furious pace as both men traded pin attempts. But, they’re both too smart to let it end so early. This contest had the fans on their feet with all the fast-paced, wild action.

Claudio event fried for the neutralizer off the top rope, but luckily for Kevin Knight, he was able to get out of it. But, he wasn’t out of danger as Claudio Castagnoli was drilling him with some vicious upper-cuts and his signature giant swing!

In the end, Kevin Knight was able to land his UFO Splash and pick up a big win, retaining the AEW TNT Championship! After the match, Kevin grabbed a microphone and gave props to Claudio for being one of his toughest opponents. He then said he will be keeping his eye on the main event, because “Jet2Belts sounds too fly!”

  • Kevin Knight: I Want To Defend The TNT Championship Against Speedball Mike Bailey

Kevin Knight: I Want To Defend The TNT Championship Against Speedball Mike Bailey

Kevin Knight would love to battle his brother for his TNT Championship.

After the news broke that Kyle Fletcher would have to vacate the TNT Championship, the announcement was made that the now vacated gold would be held in a Casino Gauntlet in Vancouver at AEW Dynasty with Tommaso Ciampa and RUSH being the first two involved.

In the end, Kevin Knight would capitalize on the opportunity with a splash on Daniel Garcia and the pin to secure the victory and be crowned the new TNT Champion, his first singles title in his pro wrestling career.

During the media scrum for AEW Dynasty, Knight spoke about the pressure it was going to bring to be the face of the TNT division, but that he was prepared for anyone, including his own tag team partner, Speedball Mike Bailey.

“Well, this being my first singles (title) ever, whether it’s on the indies, in New Japan and AEW, so for the fact that it happened on the anniversary of my pay-per-view debut here in AEW, a year later, with my tag team partner in the match, it certainly means a lot for me to be the new face of TNT. It’s a lot of pressure but I think The Jet is built for it. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. It’s so crazy because me and ‘Speedball’ are a tag team but we’ve won trios, we’ve won singles so, I think this is the next thing between us and being tag champs in the future so, I think it’s a great step in the right direction.”

“This is a team win for me and ‘Speedball’ (Mike Bailey). I’ve known him before I got here, and we’ve had great chemistry. He only wants the best for me. I only want the best for him, and I would love to defend this against my tag team partner if you (Tony Khan) would allow it. If we can set something up because me and ‘Speedball,’ we bring the best out of each other. Any time we get together, it’s like brothers just going at it, cousins just going at it so, we love to go at it.”

Before the two can make that happen, Knight will have to get through Claudio Castagnoli at AEW Dynamite’s Spring BreakThru show on Wednesday, April 15.

  • AEW Dynamite Spring Break Thru: Three Championship Matches Set

AEW Dynamite Spring Break Thru: Three Championship Matches Set

This Wednesday live on TBS, AEW Dynamite will be a special Spring Break Thru edition. This will also be a two night event that carries on to a special Thursday edition of AEW Collision just one day later. Coming out of the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view, this Wednesday’s Spring Break Thru is loaded with now three championship matches, all piggybacking off of things that took place on Dynasty.

First, it was revealed that MJF will defend his AEW World Championship once again after successfully retaining the championship against Kenny Omega in the pay-per-view main event. MJF’s opponent will be Darby Allin, who earned his shot by defeating Andrade on Sunday. Now, Darby and MJF will clash for the World Title.

Also on Wednesday, the AEW TBS Championship will be on the line when Willow Nightingale defends against the newly returned Kamille. During the AEW Dynasty Zero Hour, Kamille attacked Willow backstage, revealing that she’s back. Then, Kamille had a match where she dominated a local opponent. After the match, Nightingale came out to confront Kamille, but was once again laid out. Later into the show, Willow threw out the challenge to Kamille for Spring Break Thru, and was willing to put her title on the line. It’s official.

    https://x.com/aew/status/2043548950419107991?s=46

Lastly, we have a brand new AEW TNT Champion and it’s ‘The Jet’ Kevin Knight. Kyle Fletcher was forged to vacate the TNT title due to injury and thus, the title was up for grabs in a Casino Gauntlet Match on Sunday night. After many competitors entered, Kevin Knight stood tall as the new champion. In the gauntlet match, Death Riders members Wheeler Yuta, PAC and Daniel Garcia were all in the match. But, there was one interesting omission, which was the Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli.

Because Claudio was not in the match but the other team members were, he will get a chance at the gold. Tony Khan announced during the post-Dynasty scrum that Kevin Knight will defend the TNT Championship against Claudio Castagnoli this Wednesday.
