5 Athletes Who Would Make Great Professional Wrestlers

The line between sports and professional wrestling has always been very thin. The best wrestlers are skilled athletes, but they also need charisma, confidence and the ability to connect with crowds. To some, it feels like professional wrestling should be there main career. Whether it’s the NBA, NASCAR, F1, or Tennis, wrestling fandom touches all walks of athletics.

Here are five athletes I think would make great professional wrestlers.

5. Jameis Winston – NFL

Give this man a microphone ASAP. Winston feels less like a wrestler and more like the perfect wrestling manager. His speeches, personality and endless confidence would make him incredible standing beside a top star.

The best managers in wrestling history knew how to entertain audiences with words alone. Winston already has that natural ability every time a microphone gets put in front of him. Winston also has the size, strength and athleticism to get down and physical if need be. Watch your back, Paul Heyman.

4. Draymond Green -NBA

Green already understands how to play the villain in front of huge audiences. He’s no dummy, he knows exactly what he’s doing on the court when he has fans and opponents wanting to physically assault him. He thrives on emotional reactions, and wrestling companies are always searching for personalities who can generate that kind of heat.

His trash talk alone would make him a top heel. Whether fans cheer him or boo him, they would absolutely react to him. Think of an even more outspoken Dennis Rodman. That’s what we would get.

3. Sean Strickland – UFC

This one is controversial. Strickland would instantly become one of the most unpredictable personalities in wrestling. His unfiltered style and chaotic energy would make every promo feel must-watch.

Wrestling works best when performers feel authentic, and Strickland absolutely does. Maybe TOO authentic. Fans would never fully know what he might say next, which creates attention instantly. WWE would not be the place for this man!

2. Travis Kelce – NFL

Kelce has the confidence and microphone skills of a main-event wrestler already. He knows how to entertain crowds and turn even small moments into something memorable. Oh, and he’s currently engaged to Taylor Swift. Can you imagine the ratings?

His size and athleticism would make the transition believable immediately. WWE especially loves larger-than-life personalities, and Kelce naturally fits that mold. Could this be a post NFL retirement move?

1. George Kittle – NFL

Kittle feels like he was built in a wrestling laboratory. A create-a-wrestler in WWE 2K. He already has the wild energy, over-the-top personality and intensity that wrestling crowds immediately gravitate toward.

Beyond the charisma, Kittle clearly loves professional wrestling culture. Did you not see that photo with mega independent wrestling superstar Richard Holliday? Every appearance he makes feels like someone who would completely embrace the business instead of treating it like a celebrity cameo.
